Echoes for Tomorrow was an exhibition at Singapore Design Week 2024, exploring the balance between physical and digital worlds in an AI-driven future. It reimagined technology’s role through interactive experiences that highlight human creativity and adaptability. I contributed to the exhibit design and developed interactive prototypes, helping bring these concepts to life.
The exhibition featured interactive prototypes at the central area, inviting visitors to engage with evolving digital-physical interactions. Surrounding this core, an archive of selected student projects from workshops and computation classes over the past two years was showcased through hanging posters, creating an immersive and layered visual experience. The exhibition’s identity, visible in the poster backgrounds and title wall typography, was inspired by a cellular automata sketch developed in p5.js.
The exhibition featured several interactive prototypes, including The Heart, a light sculpture that reacted to touch—glowing when visitors touched four wires acting as input buttons. Another installation used an Arduino-powered rock with light sensors to control projected visuals across two large screens. Additionally, a series of screens showcased interactive prototypes using speech-to-text recognition, along with selected outcomes from the workshops.
Gestural Dialogues was my solo contribution to the exhibition—an interactive installation inspired by ksawerykomputery's work featuring two screens positioned opposite each other. Gestures detected on one side influenced the visuals on the other, creating a dynamic exchange between participants. The visuals incorporated generative text derived from various projects within the exhibition. The installation explores gestures as an alternative mode of communication, particularly in the absence of verbal language.
