"Breakfast? Breakfast!" started as a photography typology series showcasing the diverse breakfasts of university students. The project then transformed into an illustrative motion design piece based on interviews with eight students from around the world. This motion project brought their unique breakfast stories to life, capturing the cultural and personal significance of their morning rituals through animation.
For the interview process, I prepared 15 questions and asked eight friends—originally from Bangalore but now living in different parts of the world—to respond via audio recordings. The questions ranged from descriptions of their favorite breakfast foods to what they miss most from the breakfasts of home, offering a personal glimpse into their morning rituals and the foods that hold sentimental value.
The project was shaped by recorded interviews where participants reflected on their daily breakfasts, childhood nostalgia, and the cultural differences in morning meals across various countries. These recordings formed the foundation of the animation, influencing the visuals and pacing to align with each person’s unique experience.
